In school and in the labor
market, the pull of wages, personal interests, work
interests and work values has allowed STEM talent
to divert away from STEM occupations and into
other occupations, such as Healthcare Professional
and Managerial and Professional, which demand
similar cognitive competencies. This diversion has
put a significant strain on the STEM workforce at
the most elite levels."

And then there's this...

"While many remain focused on a small cadre of
elite STEM workers, more than a third of all jobs
in STEM through 2018 will be for those with
less than a Bachelor’s degree."

Great news, eh? The growth areas for STEM are for technicians with less than a B.S.; more than that, and you're better off in management or healthcare.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964719845369935777.post-63412053727645708002011-10-23T20:22:35.960-04:002011-10-23T20:22:35.960-04:00Wait a minute here, I thought the value of science...Wait a minute here, I thought the value of science degrees was actually rapidly rising!?!

http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/20/the-rising-value-of-a-science-degree/Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964719845369935777.post-13314014784351318722011-10-21T15:16:39.084-04:002011-10-21T15:16:39.084-04:00Sure, but does it beat out benefits?Sure, but does it beat out benefits?Chemjobberhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15932113680515602275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8964719845369935777.post-16151335382473224462011-10-21T15:14:58.409-04:002011-10-21T15:14:58.409-04:00You lived in SoCal, no?
