Good morning! Between August 30 and August 31, there were 34 new positions posted on the ACS Careers website. Of these, 15 (44%) were academically connected and 9 (26%) were from a temporary agency.
Now that's something new: Booz Allen Hamilton is one of the Department of Defense's largest intelligence/military contractors; they're looking for a Ph.D. biochemist to "[a]pply experience in the chemical processing of energy sources, including fossil-fuels, biofuels, and nuclear fuels. Comprehend chemical reactions from a fundamental and applied point of view. Act as a technical consultant to a government R&D client and work with world-class scientists in driving forward research efforts in new materials and applications based on them." Interesting. 2+ years experience in postdoc or industry desired.
Newark, DE: Air Liquide (I can't say that last word in my head w/o the French accent) is looking for a M.S./Ph.D. research scientist. Degree in analytical or physical chemistry desired; experience in emissions control technology wanted.
Yum: R.J. Reynolds is on a hiring spree! They would like a B.S./M.S. organic chemist with 2+ years of work in flavor and fragrance work.
That's different: The University of Cape Town (in South Africa) is looking for a Ph.D. chemical engineer with experience in fuel processing technology.
Lab Support: The temporary agency has 9 positions for all levels of research. Good luck, folks.
A broader look: Monster, Craigslist, Indeed and USAjobs.gov have (respectively) 293, 723, 3,736 and 73 positions for the search term "chemist."
