Villanova, PA: Villanova University is looking for a tenure-track assistant professor of analytical chemistry.
Fulton, MO: Westminister College (home of the Iron Curtain speech) is also looking for an assistant professor of analytical chemistry.
Millersville, PA: Millersville University desires an assistant professor of physical chemistry. Building built in 1999!
Ann Arbor, MI: The University of Michigan is hiring a postdoctoral fellow in radiochemistry -- previous experience in PET imaging synthesis preferred but not required. Nice postdoc salary, too!
Huntington Beach, CA: Golden West College wishes to hire a M.S./Ph.D. instructor of chemistry. A lovely town -- be sure to visit the boardwalk.
Colorado Springs, CO: Colorado College is looking for a Ph.D. biochemist to teach general and biochemistry.

Even at the upper end of that pay scale it would be slim living in Huntington. Your best options would be to live outside the city and commute in So Cal traffic, or get a roommate in some place that hopefully isn't a slum, but probably is.
