- Jeff Johnson writes on the Chemical Safety Board's draft report on the Deepwater Horizon story. I'm amused that the execs had just given out an award for avoiding slips, trips and falls when the well cut loose.
- Cheryl Hogue writes about the chemical industry's testimony before Congress on flame retardants. I can't figure out whether they work, or they don't work. It seems logical to me that they do, i.e. you add some small quantity of high-melting/combusting material to a mix of polymer, and it changes its overall ability to combust. But it sure would be nice to have some data.
- This article by Rick Mullin on Kirin Mazumdar-Shaw, the founder of India's largest biopharmaceutical company Biocon, was interesting, especially the bit on me-too drugs (she argued there's no such thing.)
