Good morning! Between December 11 and December 17, there were 25 academically-connected positions posted on ACS Careers. The numbers:
Total number of ads: 25
- Postdocs: 2
- Tenure-track faculty: 17
- Temporary faculty: 0
- Lecturer positions: 3
- Staff positions: 3
- US/non-US: 18/7
Gary, IN: Indiana University - Northwest is looking for an assistant professor of chemistry to teach organic chemistry and biochemistry.
Valley City, ND: Valley City State University is looking for an assistant professor of chemistry to teach physical and analytical chemistry. The high this week in Valley City is 25°F, it looks like. Brrrr.
La Jolla, CA: UCSD's Laboratory of Bioresponsive Materials is looking for a postdoc in synthetic polymer chemistry; must have 1 first-author publication in a "well-renowned journal, (e.g. JACS or Angewandte)." Look, fella, if you were able to command that, you wouldn't be advertising this position. That said, thanks for being honest!
Gainesville, FL: Want to know what a chemistry librarian makes? With a MLS, the University of Florida will pay you (minimum) $45,417. Wooo!
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan: The University of Saskatchewan is looking for a chair of rational drug design. Huh.

I wish there was a "chair of irrational drug design". That would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if the UF salary comment is meant to be snarky, but $45K is a decent amount of money for Florida, the cost of living is relatively low. I consider Gainesville to be somewhat small and insular, there really isn't much around there that isn't tied to the university. If you're the type that likes to have lots of different things to do all the time, you may feel a bit bored.
