Good morning! You knew this was coming -- between December 18, 2012 and January 7, 2013, there were 39 academic positions posted on C&EN Jobs. The numbers:
Total number of ads: 39
- Postdocs: 4
- Tenure-track faculty: 26
- Temporary faculty: 3
- Lecturer positions: 3
- Staff positions: 3
- US/non-US: 35/4
New York City, NY: Pace University is looking for an assistant professor to teach general chemistry and biochemistry. I would love to know how difficult it is to live in New York City on an assistant professor's salary.
Annadale-on-Hudson, NY: Bard College (just up the Hudson?) is looking for a visiting assistant professor of chemistry. This bit about moving to a new facility -- that's not about Hurricane Sandy, right?
Newark, DE: The University of Delaware is looking for a M.S./Ph.D. chemist for an organic laboratory coordinator.
Moscow, ID: The University of Idaho is looking for an assistant professor of chemistry, with a specialization in experimental physical chemistry (radiochemistry and nuclear chemistry.)
Gorges: Ithaca College (Ithaca, NY) desires an assistant professor of organic chemistry.

ReplyDeleteGiven how many artists, dancers, food vendors, and cab drivers live in New York City, I think an assistant professor without an inflated idea of material possession and living should be just fine.
