Even if I was desperate, I would be cautious about this particular CRO: I used to work with the people who started the parent company. The things you should ask when interviewing there: Do you run your own NMRs? (they used to send out samples - it is pretty strange not to have NMR, for a GMP facility). Will they even reimburse me for the travel to the job interview?
ReplyDeleteIt has been few years since I got in touch with them (and I haven't followed afterwards) but the chances that this company is not a pleasant employer is in my opinion quite high.
We have a 250 MHz Bruker NMR in service, and a 500 MHz Varian that we are in the process of starting up.
ReplyDeletePleasant employer or not, I doubt that they will bother to consider anyone outside of the San Francisco Bay Area. After all, there are plenty of equivalently skilled chemists in their vicinity. They may not even have to look at anyone from the "wrong" side of the Bay. It's still a buyer's market with respect to employers, so they can actually afford to evaluate intangibles such as personality and anticipiated work dynamics.
