Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, OH is hiring someone with strength and experience in analytical chemistry to develop clinical assays for testing in one of the nation’s premiere pediatric hospitals. The Technical Specialist-Analytical Development is responsible for coordinating development of new assays, introducing new processes and procedures, and implementing those assays into clinical offerings.
Specifically, the technical specialist in this position will:
1. Perform original test development
2. Develop sample preparation using techniques for the development of clinical tests (LLE, SLE, SPE)
3. Operate HPLC, GC/MS, and LC-MS/MS instrumentation for the development of clinical tests
4. Apply knowledge of separation sciences to the development of clinical tests
5. Prepare necessary solutions/reagents for the development of tests
6. Maintain and calibrate instruments and equipment as required
7. Monitor HPLC, LCMS and/or GC/MS system performance to ensure quality of results
8. Independently troubleshoot challenging problems with assays and instrumentation
9. Make and record observations and performs mathematical calculations
10. Author standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other test documentation
11. Accomplish all necessary and applicable training
12. Documents promptly and clearly all procedural processes
Education requirements:
Master’s degree highly preferred or qualified Bachelor’s degree with considerable experience in sample preparation from biological matrices and experience with LC/MS/MS and GC/MS.Best wishes!
