ReplyDeleteCome one, come all. Get your degree in the steam engine. It will totally be worth it, and not obsolete in the five years it takes you to acquire it.
ReplyDeleteA minor quibble: in the picture should the equation not be internal energy delta U rather than dU equal to the change in enthalpy plus change in external work? dU means an infinitesimal change of the internal energy of the system whereas delta means a macroscopic change.
ReplyDeleteI know this is a half a year late, but the heat and work quantities are differential amounts also - the difference is that heat and work are path functions. These are inexact differentials, which is why a lower case delta instead of a lower case d is used.
