Rest in peace, Sheri Sangji
Six years ago today, Sheharbano (Sheri) Sangji died of her injuries sustained while running a reaction with tert-butyl lithium in the laboratory of Professor Patrick Harran at UCLA. My thoughts and prayers are with her friends and her family.
I remember that, it was a tragedy. It was also shocking how inept and untrained in basic lab safety the other students were when it happened. It also made me realize, yet again, how dangerous this job can be. I've used t-BuLi loads of times without incident, but all it takes is one time...
