Maybe not exploratory synthetic chemistry or empirical physical chemistry per se, but many aspects of standard analytical chemistry are heading there. Examples of this trend include sample handling, auto-shimming, auto-quantification, etc.
"Does your job require negotiation" is surprising to me, because in all the places I have worked it has been constant negotiation. With Quality, with Management, with everything. Constant. Will-grinding. Negotiation.
I'm a little disappointed it only ranks us slightly above the midpoint for "Do you need to come up with clever solutions?" That's my whole job description! Come up with clever solutions and patent them....
Sorry but automation (robots) will replace hands. While a few people will be responsible for coming up with solutions and sequences, the hands on stuff will be automated. It's coming and it's up to societies (ACS, right?!) to prepare the future generations for this event.
