The successful candidates will be expected to develop robust research programs at the intersection of Biochemistry with Organic, Inorganic, and Physical Chemistry. Candidates with research interests in traditional areas of Organic Chemistry will also be considered. Research that takes advantage of the unique natural environment and strategic needs of the State of Hawaii will receive special consideration. The successful candidate will also demonstrate an ability to contribute to the teaching mission of the department at both the undergraduate and graduate level.Sounds interesting.

If Hawaii-Manoa was willing to hire someone who didn't know that a mixture of H2 and O2 can go kaboom, I expect that anyone who passed high school chemistry is more than qualified to be a professor there.
ReplyDeleteThat accident wasn't in the chemistry department.
DeleteEven if that group was in some related area like an engineering subdiscipline, this level of ignorance of basic science is inexcusable, and does not make Hawaii look like a respectable institution.
