A few of the articles from this week's issue of C&EN:
- Cover: Tobin Marks is awarded the Priestley Medal. (profile by Mitch Jacoby)
- The latest on the science around e-cigarette content (article by Matt Davenport)
- I'm a little biased, but I am super-stoked about this article about Clean Harbors' new hazardous waste incinerator (article by Jyllian Kemsley)
- Fascinating new (alkylation? arylation? chemistry from the Nelson group at UCLA (article by Stu Borman)
- Well, I guess the EU is okay with Dow-DuPont... (article by Melody Bomgardner)
- Are there any D-amino acids in the mouse brain? Perhaps not. (article by Louisa Dalton)
The Science paper says "The authors declare no competing financial interests." But, in the C&EN article, Nelson says "We have filed a provisional patent and look forward to working with the chemical industry to develop practical applications.". I have no knowledge on these patent issues. Can you declare no financial interest and yet still apply for a patent?
