View From Your Hood: State Route 57 edition
Green hills in LA.
(got a View from Your Hood submission? Send it in (with a caption and preference for name/anonymity, please) at chemjobber@gmail.com; will run every other Friday.)
Also the nicely-covered overhead signs. Everywhere else the overhead signs are uncovered and you see the steel framework. Quite a shock to me to see when I left CA, If only I was as shocked by a methyl cation.....
This is the closest we've gotten to a hood (albeit not the right kind of hood) in a while.
"Also the nicely-covered overhead signs. Everywhere else the overhead signs are uncovered and you see the steel framework. Quite a shock to me to see when I left CA, If only I was as shocked by a methyl cation...." I can't speak for most of CA as I don't tend to pay attention to the quality of overhead signs in general, but for the first time in my life I noticed (bad) overhead signs in LA. They seemed to have extremely dated and badly weathered button copy signs everywhere. Felt like I'd just stepped back into the 80s, and for such a major metropolitan area I was a bit shocked.
I've liked CA the few times I've been there, but the expense puts it out of reach (let alone my work), and my wife would go nuts in anywhere I would want to live (rural cultural conservative/Republican) - I know there are some in CA (Nixon/Reagan/Schwarzenegger) but still.
The green hills are nice - we finally got green here in the last couple of weeks and it's subpar in the long winter dead space to see the yellow grass and plants (and this year, mud).
looks like Blogger doesn't work with anonymous comments from Chrome browsers at the moment - works in Microsoft Edge, or from Chrome with a Blogger account - sorry! CJ 3/21/20
How you know you're in CA (other than the green hills) - a ten-lane state road.
