The Chemical Engineering Faculty Jobs List has 6 positions. It is curated by Lilian Josephson (@lljosephson), who says:
The new cycle has begun for the chem e's! This year we will try to utilize the list further by circulating among the professors, as well as using the hashtags #facultychemEjobs and #MeettheCandidatesChE2020.This post will serve as the open thread for this year's search.
Thank you, CJ and Lilian, for maintaining this list; you are saints. A quick accessibility comment -- the fact that you've frozen so many rows of cells makes it nearly impossible to read this spreadsheet on smaller screens. Maybe consider unfreezing the cells? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI made some changes - hopefully that helps!
DeleteCould anyone share how it works for recruitment in AlChE annual meeting?
ReplyDeleteAnyone sharing updates regarding interviews?
ReplyDeleteI have applied to 20+ ChemE jobs and have yet to hear anything. Hoping for some good news before Christmas, otherwise... 2020 the great destroyer of naive dreams.
ReplyDeleteRejection letter from EPFL
ReplyDeletesame :) - very nice of them.
DeleteRejection letter from UC Berkeley for the AI/machine-learning post
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard back from Georgia Tech ChemE?
ReplyDeleteNot yet! I recall someone from the Chem thread saying they were scheduling way back in October, but my guess is that was a one-off and not reflective of their entire search. Chair of the GATech ChE search is Ryan Lively, you could always inquire.
DeleteRec'd rejection email from Oregon State University (BioE) - 1/6
ReplyDeleteHave people heard from University of Connecticut's position?
ReplyDeleteI received email asking RL for the MIT DMSE position this week. Their application deadline was Nov30. Does this mean anything or it's just same for everyone who applied?
ReplyDeleteDid you submit three recommendation letters with application?
Delete@2:46pm It seems that I did not find a place to enter RL at the time of initial submission.
DeleteRejection email rec'd from Georgia Tech (Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering)
ReplyDeleteCan I ask which field you were?
DeleteChemBio/SynthBio/Immunology
DeleteUsually around when we should expect hearing back from Chemical Engineering programs?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone heard from UPenn Materials Science and UPenn Chemical Engineering?
ReplyDeleteRejection received from Johns Hopkins Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering
ReplyDeleteDid they send that as a response of your inquiry or on their own?
DeleteDid they ask for Rec Letters?
DeleteThey sent it on their own, and I didn't hear anything about letters requested, so I assume they did not.
DeleteI'm 4:35, just received rejection letter (way nicer than others, btw). Looks like they are going through batches of candidates, or trimming down the pool, and sending out letters at every stage.
DeleteI just received a rejection too.
DeleteAnything about UMich ChemE after letters request? Thanks
ReplyDeletePrelim zoom interviews scheduled.
DeleteAnyone hear anything from UCLA?
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard anything yet from UCLA. I applied to a few positions there, but nothing...
Delete@ 2:29 - glad I'm not the only one...
DeleteAnyone hear anything from Univ. of Notre Dame ChemE?
ReplyDeleteI got half on site interview. They chose 5 final candidates and I gave a job talk but not chalk talk. I assume I am not selected for the next step though. Field: nano/bio
DeleteFor the "half on site", did you have one on one meeting with faculties?
DeleteRejection letter from CU Boulder.
ReplyDeleteWould you share for which field did you apply? Thank you very much!
DeleteI applied for the Chemical and Biological Engineering. This is for the Multiple Open-Discipline Faculty Positions in Engineering and Applied Science position in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU Boulder. My research field is nano/bio.
DeleteAny other news from CU Boulder? Do you know if preliminary/on site interviews were scheduled? Thank you!
DeleteColorado School of Mines Quantum Information is scheduling zoom interviews.
ReplyDeleteUniversity of Minnesota has selected candidates and has interviewed
ReplyDeleteI know it's a strange year and it is difficult to know anything, but do you think that we are in one of those silent periods, or for this cycle we can reasonably say that it's done?
ReplyDeleteAlso wondering this. The only places I've heard of people interviewing at (in any capacity) in chem eng so far is MIT, University of Washington, JHU, and Georgia Tech. Not sure if this is because my colleagues aren't traditional engineers and thus aren't competitive, or if it's because the engineering cycle is very delayed this year.
DeleteI am curious about University of Washington candidate. Any insight on their field? I can't see their seminars posted...
ReplyDeleteMy colleague told me their seminars aren't being publicly posted. Not sure of field, but the hiring ad states its a cluster hire in big-data analysis and high-throughput imaging.
DeleteRejection from Oregon State Chem/Bio/Envr Eng.
ReplyDeleteRejection letter received from Oklahoma State University Chemical Engineering.
ReplyDeleteJohns Hopkins, UPenn, Wisconsin, and Michigan have selected candidates and are in the process of interviewing.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone rec'd rejection letters from UPenn? Or should I prepare to be ghosted...
DeleteRejection of UW ChemE received.
ReplyDeleteAny news from UT Austin ChemE?
ReplyDeleteRejection received from UCSF BTS (Bioengineering & Therapeutic Sciences) - 2/18
ReplyDeleteAny news from PennState?
ReplyDeleteWas curious about penn state as well. Applied in October, had a request for letters right before Christmas, but nothing since then. My field is catalysis and I had some traction elsewhere so thought I might hear something from psu since theyre starting a catalysis center. their posted seminar schedule doesn't include any faculty candidates. would appreciate if anyone knows the status of their search.
DeleteThey are interviewing already.
DeleteAnyone heard anything from West Virginia and NJIT?
ReplyDeletereceived rejection from CO school of Mines -- advanced materials .
ReplyDeleteAuburn, Colorado, Houston, West Virginia, Penn State, Notre Dame, and Purdue have selected candidates and are in the process of interviewing.
ReplyDeleteIs there a list of seminars available online for these?
DeleteAsking again. has anyone heard from UCLA in any capacity?
ReplyDeleteHave not heard anything. I have applied to three openings at UCLA (related to bioengineering). 2 of those openings didn't ask for LORs at submission. And my writers haven't mention receiving any letter requests... anybody else have letters requested?
DeleteIt's strange that no one has heard. I applied to 3 openings too and didn't hear anything. Same with experience with a few other people I know. I wonder if they cancelled their searches, or if their candidates don't frequent this site.
DeleteJust FYI, I googled the name of a person who was on another department faculty search seminar schedule and this person's name also showed up for UCLA chemE seminar. It appears UCLA's seminar schedule is not listed in their events tab, but if you google a specific event it somehow shows up. So looks like they have already interviewed.
DeleteAnything on Texas Tech?
ReplyDeleteI remember from AICHE that Texas Tech is recruiting tenured professor, not tenure track
Delete7:38 PM, I chatted to Gerri (Texas Tech department head) at the Texas Tech reception at AIChE and she said Texas Tech had two postings. One for a tenured professor and another for a tenure track professor.
DeleteHas anyone heard anything from University of Washington after the onsite?
ReplyDeleteUCLA, Northwestern, Texas A&M, Dayton, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, MIT, and Northeastern have selected candidates and are in the process of interviewing.
ReplyDeleteDo you refer 'interviewing' to phone interview or onsite?
Delete@ 7:40 PM, both.
DeleteRejection from Yale and Berkeley received.
ReplyDeleteRejection from Yale University and the University of Michigan received.
ReplyDeleteRejection received from Princeton (Chemical and Biological Engineering) - priority date 10/25. Email indicated they 'just' completed initial review of 200+ apps
ReplyDeleteis there a ChemE/MSE version of "chem bumper car" ?
ReplyDeleteNo there isn't... mainly because I haven't had time to do that. I wish there's an easier way to crawl that info online! (Not everyone updates it on Twitter)
DeleteWhere can I find the 20210-2022 faculty job list in Chemical engineering?
ReplyDeletehttps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KJdGUC1FvfVy52zXq6xj8arPNNJgDvFK8Pw2BdbSLMo/edit?usp=sharing
DeleteSame list as before! I just started it. (You are really early!)
