The Daly Research Group at the University of Iowa is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join a newly funded project aimed at investigating metal-phosphorus bonding with actinides, including the transuranium elements Np and Pu.

The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will be tasked with leading efforts to prepare and characterize new phosphorus ligands and actinide complexes. Qualified applicants must have significant experience and expertise in air-free synthetic methods (e.g., Schlenk and glovebox techniques), crystal growth and analysis using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, and spectroscopic characterization methods such as NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies. Experience in actinide chemistry and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) is viewed as highly desirable, though not required. Applicants that have an expressed interest in developing these skills will be viewed positively.
