  2. "Have you thought about teaching?" What makes me laugh is that my family thinks being an adjunct is prestigious. I guess "adjunct" sounds good to the naive...

  3. "Can you CRISPR a baby?" is a good update. I have already heard that one, but usually with an accusatory stare.

  4. I would remove the Merry Christmas but and replace it with Happy Holidays or some other non-religious alternative. Let's keep any religious references out of this.

    1. 'Happy Holidays' is Pastafarian though, and these days more and more people are aware of their religion, with that painting of FSM giving life to Adam hitting it big on the internet. I'm personally heavily prejudiced against Pastafarians (that's why I'm anonymous here). I would not let my children play with Pastafarian children and I know it's not the right way to think, but that's my world and maybe it will die with me. I will never give them the satisfaction by saying 'Happy Holidays'. If someone says it to me, I can't be 100% sure they are Pastafarian, but I always answer 'Happy Winter Solstice' or 'Happy Japanese Emperor's Birthday', because I just don't want to give them the satisfaction.

    2. I'm not sure that Happy Holidays is Pastafarian, but rather a generic phrase that respectfully includes all of the holidays celebrated around this time of the year. If someone said Happy Holidays to me, the last thing that would come to my mind is "oh this person much be a Pastafarian". In any case, I'd rather have my kids hang out with Pastafarian kids than kids who were raised by real religious nuts.

    3. I know I'm pretty prejudiced against Pastafarians and it might seem irrational. Probably is... But I can't help it. I just really hate carbs.
