1. HELPING CHEMISTS FIND JOBS IN A TOUGH MARKET. 2. TOWARDS A QUANTITATIVE UNDERSTANDING OF THE QUALITY OF THE CHEMISTRY JOB MARKET.
What's the job market like for chemists? Dude -- it's always bad.*
How bad is it? How the heck should I know? Quantifying the chemistry job market is what this blog is about. That, and helping chemists find jobs.

(*For the literal-minded, this is a joke. Mostly.)
There was a discussion on In The Pipeline a few days ago about the frequent confusion between Merck Darmstadt and the American Merck. "EMD Serono" = Merck KGaA, German Merck, etc. I had been under the impression that "Merck Serono" was a site of the American Merck until a few days ago!

I had the pleasure of interviewing with this group about 6 years ago. It's a good group. But didn't EMD Serono just go through layoffs a few weeks ago? http://pipeline.corante.com/archives/2015/02/24/cutbacks_at_merck_serono.php
ReplyDeleteI guess it's the same fire-and-hire strategy being used across the industry these days?
I, too, interviewed with Serono several years ago. Does anyone know if they are still requiring applicants to do that Gawd-awful personality inventory as part of the process?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. This blog-site is now advertising more positions for organic chemists than is the ACS!
