Industry offers/postings being pulled?

So it's November now, and we should be in the middle of the fall hiring push for industrial chemists. What is the feeling out there? What's your opinion on how the process is moving along? Slow? About as fast as normal? Are you seeing posting being suddenly pulled, or offers disappearing due to budgets?

Readers, what do you think?

  1. Well, I work for a CMO and we've been on a hiring SURGE all year, and I don't think things are slowing down now...

  2. My company does work with quite a few CRO's/CMO's. There seems to be quite a bit of turnover and hiring.

  3. I worked in the surfactant industry until recently and we’ve been hiring steadily all year on increased demand. I just voluntarily made the jump to the pharma industry- no hiccups with the offer and plenty of other open positions.

  4. I'm job-hunting now, and no one is in any rush to move forward - lots of delays and excuses. Long waits between rounds of interviews for the same position, like I'll pass the HR phone screening, do the hiring manager phone screening a month later, then the formal interview two months later, then they need another 3 months to make up their minds, etc.

  5. Mat Sci. in Silicon Valley is still going strong. Apple in particular is hiring like crazy.

  6. CDMO. turnover is high, so people are going somewhere and we are hiring to back fill.
