Well, that's one way to quit

I don't think I've ever seen anything as fun as this employee of Next Media Animation quitting her job. (For those who want her employer's bemused response, see here.)

(Incidentally, does anyone else think that "Take This Job and Shove It" isn't a very good song? I feel like there needs to be a better "I quit!" theme song.)

  1. "Frankly Mr Shankly" by The Smiths. Or maybe "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now".

  2. Rogue lab techs are not the only ones. Commercial drug labs fake test at client request all the time.

  3. If I ever quit my job and wish to leave on less than pleasant terms, then here's what I would do. I would go to a adult novelty store and purchase several of those 18 inch, double-ended, likely colorful "marital aids". The diameter of these objects would be important because it would be just narrow enough to slip into the solvent reservoirs we use for a flash chromatography systems. In the presence of organic solvent, the polymer would likely swell and therefore be impossible to simply remove the object from the reservoir by pouring it out. Would it get as much coverage as a youtube video? Probably not, but it still sounds hilarious to me.

  4. She gets points for style and creativity, but you wonder if she's just made herself into a toxic employee, one that people will think twice about hiring. No-one likes when someone quits abruptly, but to quit in such a viral fashion screams that something might not be quite 'right' with this person. In this day and age, not sure if that was a smart move.

Clearly I've been going about things the very wrong way.

  6. The song choice "I'm Gone" by Kanye West is just fine.

  7. There are plenty of other songs for the job. I don't think Kanye West is fit for the task, personally.

  8. Todd Snyder's I was Looking for a Job when I Found this One is my personal favorite.
