The View From Your Hood: Grenoble, France edition

Grenoble, France
Credit: Isaac Martens
From reader Isaac Martens: "I'm at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, looking over the banks of the river Isère at the foot of the Chartreuse valley in the southwestern Alps. This is the 'bad' view, the other sides of campus have a couple castles and two more mountain ranges."

  1. This is stunning...absolutely gorgeous. I would love to see pictures of the mountain ranges and castles on the other sides.

    1. Good views of the Belledonne and Vercours ranges can be found below. The mountain fortresses are built into the ridge in the second photo.

  3. Note to self: Apply for beamtime as ESRF and find some way to have university cover for the flight and lodging...

  4. Please be aware that laboratory positions are only open to real scientists ( i.e., physicists). There are several vacancies in the cafeteria suitable for chemists or others that can follow a cookbook. Geologists (MS or PhD only) may submit a resume to Facilities Management for the position of groundskeeper.

    Sincerely,
    Dr. Sheldon Cooper

PS: There are three model train stores within 10 km of the laboratory
