This is a pretty amazing little story, with Parts 1, 2 and 3. It's worth a read, if only for a reminder of the crazy that can happen at a small company. Milkshake can tell a good story.

We need to stop giving honorary doctorates to celebrities and politicians for whatever bullshit reason and give Milkshake an actual PhD. He could easily keep pace with most of the PhD chemists I've known. I hope I never have to compete with him for a job.
ReplyDeleteHis writing style is also excellent. I think it's difficult to make a story like that simultaneously amusing and compelling.
The dude is easily the most knowledgeable and experienced in about seemingly any form of chemistry.. I would say he is worth about 3 PhD chemists put together.
DeleteMilkshake is basically the reason I got into chemistry (and stayed out of synthesis)
DeleteEagerly waiting to see how the (purely fictional) story turns out. Dr. Skaff is no longer the CEO at Intezyne, but I can find no record of an arrest...
ReplyDeleteI would also like to hear about Milkshake's experiences at the 1987 International Chemistry Olympiad. That must also be a good story. In the US that might guarantee admission to Harvard. :)
ReplyDeleteIs that a job offer in disguise?
DeleteDoesn't Milkshake live in South Florida? I do hope he will be safe in the hurricane.
