Daily Pump Trap: 9/3/15 edition

A few of this week's posting at C&EN Jobs:

Huh: Not every day that you see Pratt and Whitney advertising at C&EN Jobs, but they need a REACh specialist.

Albuquerque, NM: Sandia looking for a Ph.D.-level staff scientist and postdoc, both having to do with advanced semiconductor science.

"the New York City area": Interesting position for someone to work with bulk transportation of liquids.

The Pharma Survey: A quick check of the top 5 pharma companies (as measured by FierceBiotech) and their careers websites follows. Search keyword was "chemistry" (this is key) and the geographical area was the U.S.
  1. Johnson & Johnson: 118 positions
  2. Novartis: 76 positions
  3. Roche: 22 positions
  4. Pfizer: 65 positions
  5. Sanofi: 50 positions
Over time, I'd like this section to grow narrower (i.e. non-biology positions) and wider (more companies). Watch this space.

A broader look: Monster, Careerbuilder, Indeed and USAjobs.gov show (respectively) 1000+, 660, 9,599 and 16 positions for the search term "chemist." LinkedIn shows 1476 positions for the job title "chemist", with 77 for "analytical chemist", 26 for "research chemist", 11 for "organic chemist", 4 for "synthetic chemist" and 1 for "medicinal chemist."
