  1. Interesting - I always thought the ACS symbol was just a funny-looking Erlenmeyer flask. I found I nice surprise in the paper cited in the kaliapparat article - the authors discuss some prior work on reproducing old experiments and my old organic chemistry professor was mentioned (Lawrence Principe). Technically he does his research under the auspices of the History of Science and Technology department at Hopkins, but he has a joint appointment in chemistry. They guy's amazing; he has a historically accurate alchemy lab that he does all his experiments in. Would have loved to do undergrad research with him.
