Daily Pump Trap: 6/6/13 edition

Good morning! Between June 4 and June 5, there were 17 new positions posted on the C&EN Jobs website. Of these, 5 (29%) were academically connected and 6 (35%) were from Kelly Scientific Resources.

Houston, TX: BASF is looking for a water solutions application scientist:
The Water Solutions Department within BASF Performance Chemicals is currently looking for an Applications Scientist at our Houston location. The scientist will focus on developing chemical solutions (corrosion inhibitor) for process, cooling and steam generation applications. He/She will be in charge of chemical development activities under the leadership of the Lab Manager.
Must have minimum of three years' water treatment experience in industry or academia (or must have minimum of three years' industrial/academic water treatment experience) 
Experience in industrial water treatment applications and a working knowledge of steam generation, cooling systems, and other industrial processes preferred 
Hey, isn't there a company that does stuff with water just down the road...?

Monroeville, PA: PPG looking for a Ph.D. organic/analytical chemist to perform mass spectrometry work.

A job for laser jocks?: Two associate laboratory director positions in the Bay Area opening up at SLAC (boy, there are some naming issues there). One is in the Linac Coherent Light Source directorate, one is in the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) directorate.

  2. Hard to throw a stone in/around Houston and not hit at least 4-5 companies doing something for process water and/or oil+gas production asset integrity.
