IKA just does not stop

Via the Chemistry Reddit, I see that IKA is continuing its highly professional marketing techniques.

  2. Dk problem here, aside from lack of PPE---even there, how does anyone know he's not wearing safety contact lenses?

Nothing wrong with a good looking chemist, with a winning smile and dreamy eyes, posing beside his favorite reactor.

  5. Sexily-posed models ARE a "highly professional marketing technique"!
I'd actually give IKA credit for putting a man in the suggestive post that is mostly reserved for women.

  6. So is the objection here the absurd pose (I'd argue this is no less so than Pis who've not run a reaction in a decade posing in a lab coat---almost as good as the 'on the phone' headshots) or that these people are too good looking to be chemists?

    1. That's fair. How about this: http://www.vanderbilt.edu/chemistry/faculty/caprioli.php

I don't know the guy, and he may well still work in the lab. I also haven't actually used a pipette in a decade---but, if I recall---that ain't how it's typically done.

      LOL https://www.scripps.edu/newsandviews/e_20060213/boger.jpg. Go Dale!

Whoa, sorry Stu, looks like this photo caught you off to the lab....http://www.biotechniques.com/multimedia/archive/00171/BTN_A_000113796_O_F_171974b.jpg

    2. The last one looks fine, as it genuinely looks like Trost doesn't really belong there and he's not trying to pretend. Way better than the one of my postdoc boss that they did for some story after a glamor magz pub. They made him go to the lab and stand next to a working rotovap, but it wasn't good enough, so somebody gave him a flask of some metal salt dissolved in water so he could hold it up to the light and look at it with a thoughtful expression. Actually the photo came out really well, but it did cause a lot of smirking in the lab.

  7. Have you seen the latest IKA ads with Phil Baran? I just wonder what kind of pose they asked him for.

    1. Is that ad for real?

Regarding the model leaning against the IKA stirrer, my objection is that if he were a chemist with a job, then he should get back to work, if he values his employment!

looks like Blogger doesn't work with anonymous comments from Chrome browsers at the moment - works in Microsoft Edge, or from Chrome with a Blogger account - sorry! CJ 3/21/20
